Why Did I Start

I feel like I need to get this out there because I want to and I have been thinking about it a lot. The reason why I started this blog was because I wanted to share my journey of figuring out my life. I see so many people out there talking about all the great things that they are doing but not a lot of discussion around, the struggle that occurs in "getting there".

While I am happy for the people that are doing amazing things and conquering the world, I  understand how overwhelming it can be to be a bystander. You see all the great things other people are doing and you wonder why you cannot do it as well. You hear is all it takes is the courage to act and yet you cannot seem to make yourself move. The feeling of inadequacy just beats down on you constantly and you feel like you have no idea what to do with your life, so you do nothing.

The problem is that this sort of thinking really gets us no where but in a worse spot. When we focus on all the things we cannot do or have not done, we only get more of it. When we focus on what we can control and approach life with a sense of gratitude, we get so much more.

Here are some tips I am currently working on

1) Take some time to write and reflect. This is the big reason I have started this blog. It not only allows me to share my message with the world, but it allows me to get all my thoughts out and help clear my head.

2) Stop living in fear. As someone that is looking for a new role, I have been told that I should not talk about my side projects or contract work I am doing because it may scare some people away. While well intentioned it all comes from a place of fear, which I cannot deal with. No matter what you do, there are going to be people, groups and organizations that do not like you and you will never be good enough for them, do not bow down to their demands.

3) Focus: One area I struggle in is focus. I have a lot of ideas of what I want to do and I think about which one is the best. In fact I do it so much that I end up not making any traction on any goals and I feel like I am failing and when I feel that way, I just stop trying. Focus on one thing at a time for a determined period and you will make progress.

4) Get out there. You can have a lot of ideas in your head but until you actually put them out into the world, you have no idea if they will actually work. It sucks finding out but once you know, you know and you can invest more time and money or you can stop wasting it.

I hope this helps.
